UPDATE: Salaam Sentenced For Green Street Shooting

SALISBURY, Md. - A Fruitland man will spend the next three decades behind bars, after he shot a person.

On Thursday, 30-year-old Clifton Salaam, was sentenced by a Wicomico County Judge to 30 years behind bars, with 10 suspended for the attempted 2nd degree murder charge. He was additionally sentenced to 5 years each, without parole, for the charges of use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, and possession of a handgun by a prohibited person.

These sentences will be served consecutive to the 20 years. This means that he will spend the next 30 years behind bars, after he shot a person in the abdomen in a home on Green Street, in Fruitland. The victim reportedly spend 2 months in the hospital after the incident.

Salaam was convicted of the charges by a Wicomico County jury back in June, for the October 2013 shooting.
