Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing Near Lewes

DELAWARE - Delaware State Police say a small plane made an emergency landing on the beach near Lewes tonight.

Police say around 7:30 PM, the plane landed north of Gordons Pond in the area of Cape Henlopen State Park. There were reportedly two people on board, a male and a female, but there were no injuries.

Police spokesman Master Corporal Gary Fournier says there was minor damage to the plane, but could not confirm why the plane had to land.

The Federal Aviation Administration will reportedly further investigate the incident, and plan to remove the plane off the beach on Thursday.
