Police Investigate Armed Robbery Of New Castle Superfresh

NEW CASTLE, Del. - Delaware State Police say they are investigating the armed robbery of a Super Fresh supermarket that occurred last evening.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 8:20 PM as a male suspect entered the Super Fresh supermarket located at 2044 New Castle Avenue, New Castle. The suspect reportedly approached the express checkout lane and confronted the 33-year-old female cashier, displayed a knife and demanded money. The cashier reportedly complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say the suspect fled the store on foot and there were no injuries as a result of this incident.

The suspect is reportedly described as a white male, between 40 and 50 years of age, between 5'08" and 5'09" tall, with a thin build. The suspect was reportedly last seen wearing a white shirt, dark shorts, light colored baseball hat, and armed with a knife. 

Troopers say they are continuing to investigate this incident and anyone that has any information in reference to this incident are asked to contact the Robbery Unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 or by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
