GIRDLETREE, Md. - Maryland State Police say a motor vehicle collision led to a DUI arrest yesterday.
According to reports, Michael Anthony Cieslak, 27, of Washington DC, was traveling on Snow Hill Road near C Road operating a 2006 Mercedes Passenger Car. Cieslak reportedly failed to maintain control of the vehicle and caused it to travel off-road, struck and took down a utility pole and destroyed the Mercedes.
Police say Cieslak was treated at the scene for minor injuries by EMS and released at the scene. During the investigation, the trooper reportedly believed the driver to be impaired. Cieslak performed standardized field sobriety testing unsatisfactorily and was reportedly subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence and was transported to the MSP Berlin Barrack.
Police say he was subsequently charged with the collision event and the DUI.
