UPDATE: One In Custody After Reported Barricade Situation In Felton

Posted: Updated:

FELTON, Del. - Police say the situation is all clear, and the suspect is in custody, after an apparent barricade in Felton.

Delaware State Police say the incident started around 11:20 AM on Tuesday, in the 600 block of Sportsman Road. According to the report, DSP received a call about a domestic incident outside of the home, after which the female victim fled with her kids, and said the male may have run back into the house.

Troopers reportedly assessed the situation, and several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

The subject, 43-year-old Patrick Billings, was spotted by a retired Delaware State Trooper, while he was walking through a field near the home. The man called Kent County Emergency Operations Center, and made contact with the suspect, who reportedly attempted to flee. Police say Billings was caught, and taken into custody without further incident.

Sportsman Road between Marshy Hope Road and Hills Market Road was closed during the situation, but reopened around 3:00 PM. Nearby residents were allowed to return to their homes following the apprehension.

Billings, who was wanted by Kent County Superior Court for failure to appear, was taken to Troop 3, where he will be charged with violation of a Family Court order.
