47ABC - June 21st is the first day of summer, and it's also the longest day of the year, known as the Summer Solstice.
Folks in our area will have nearly 15 hours of daylight, with the sun in the sky until about 8:29 Saturday evening. This happens when the sun actually reaches the farthest point north of the Equator.
Though, with the 90-something-degree temps earlier this week we certainly got a taste of summer, but how are people spending the official first day?
Despite it not feeling particularly "summery," Titus from Salisbury said "it feels nice out here though. Good day for fishing!"
Tish, was in the Salisbury City Park with her family, "we just got done paddle boating, and we're going to go home and swim in the pool and have a barbeque."
Head over to our Facebook page and let us know how you spending the longest day of the year.
