Shorebirds shutout against the Legends

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, MD -- After a rain delay yesterday, it could not have been a better night for baseball. Clear skies and mild temperatures as the Delmarva Shorebirds took on the Lexington Legends.

The night was beginning to look perfect for Shorebirds pitcher Steven Brault who retired the first nine batters. But then, in top of the 4th, he hit Legends' Alfredo Escalera with a pitch.

It was also a strong start for Legends' pitcher Cody Reed who kept his shutout going through all six innings he pitched.

The score remained scoreless until top of the seventh when Legends' Chad Johnson lifted a sacrifice fly to left to give the Legends a 1-0 lead and win.

The Legends' tied up the series, at one game a piece. This Brault's first loss since April 30th.

The Shorebirds square off in game three on Saturday at 7:05pm.
