Ocean City Building Up For Dew Tour

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Before any tricks, games, or crowds hit Ocean City for Dew Tour, crews spend the week transforming this sun seekers haven into an extreme-sports Mecca.

Thursday, 47ABC caught a couple spectators on the boardwalk watching the action before the action.

"Pretty awesome how fast they can set it all up," says Tyler, visiting the beach from Pennsylvania.

Jessica Waters, spokesperson for Ocean City, is already hyping the event.  We caught her as she says she was "literally typing '6 days away'".

Last year, the ocean city stop for Dew Tour saw record breaking numbers, with more than 100,000 people showing up to the event.

Dew Tour moved from August to June last year.  A change local businesses say helped kick-start the summer, and they're hoping to duplicate that magic again.

Boardwalk landmark Tony's Pizza says business has been pretty good this year compared to last, but the first month of the summer is always a bit of a struggle.

"June is usually a slow month, but with the Dew Tour being in June," says owner, Tony Russo, "it picks up our June month for the summer."

Dew Tour kicks off next week, and runs from June 25-29.

You can check out the 47ABC Dough Roller SkyCam any time on our website, for a bird's eye view of the action.
