MILFORD, Del. - A traffic stop in Milford, lead to the seizure of more than $31,000 in cash.

Milford Police say on June 13th, their Patrol Division stopped a vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Luci Lucas Da Silva, of Fruitland, Maryland, for a traffic violation on Route 1. Police say there was also a passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Welington Da Silva, of Brazil, but who currently lives in Salisbury, Maryland.

Officers on scene reportedly searched the vehicle, and found over $31,000 in United States currency. The Milford Police's k-9 unit then sniffed the money, and reportedly alerted to the presence of illegal drug residue.

Homeland Security and I.C.E say that Welington Da Silva had been deported from the United States, and was not allowed back into the country. Milford Police Detectives then turned Welington Da Silva over to I.N.S to face deportation and/or other charges, while Luci Da Silva was released after being charged with traffic offenses.

The investigation is apparently continuing.
