Salisbury, MD: With the start of the second half of the season beginning tonight for the Shorebirds, the Orioles have begun moving players up. Today, three players have been moved up from Delmarva to Frederick. First baseman Trey Mancini, right fielder Mike Yastrzemski and reliever Jimmy Yacabonis will be joining the Keys for their game tonight.
Mancini is an 8th round pick out of Notre Dame. He has appeared in 68 games this season for the Shorebirds, and after a slow start caught fire at the plate recording 85 hits for a team best batting average of .317 (min 10 AB). He is also second on the team in RBi's with 42. Defensively he was also solid, recording just 4 errors on the year.
Yastrzemski was selected in the 14th round last year out of Vanderbilt. He is currently second on the team in hits with 79, but leads the team in home runs with 10, triples with 10, and third in doubles with 14. His 34 extra base hits are 12 better than anyone else on the team.
Finally, Yacabonis was drafted in the 13th round out of St. Joseph's University. he was unhittable in the closer role for the Shorebirds until the final three weeks of the first half of the season. In his first 19 appearances, he gave up just 2 hits and no earned runs, but in his final 2 appearances he allowed 7 hits and 3 earned runs, while blowing his first save opportunity.
