28-Week Online Educational Program On The Way To MD

Posted: Updated:

DORCHESTER CO., Md. - A 28-week online educational program is one step closer to becoming a reality in Dorchester County.

"Veracity Matters" uses themes like superheroes and pirates, with a combination of music, animation, interactive lessons, and team building activities to focus on skills that colleges and employers are looking for, such as empathy, problem-solving, and communication skills. The lessons are also carefully crafted to build trust and confidence and give kids practical strategies for dealing with stress, anger, and depression.

A Dorchester County Educator, Bobbi Callis, began work on the project more than a year ago after seeing a big need in the community.

"We have just noticed a decline in character education for kids, with the bullying and depression it just seems to be getting worse," says Callis. "We hope to not just help one kid but we hope it has the potential to help kids all over the nation."

Callis is hoping to raise $25,000 to hire a team to film the lessons, edit the video, and create a web portal so any school can subscribe.
