Record High Temp Tomorrow? - 47 ABC - Delmarva's Choice

Record High Temp Tomorrow?

In Salisbury, MD on June 18th, 1957 a daily record high temperature of 96° was reached.  There is a great chance to see that broken tomorrow with highs in the mid-90s.  So what has led to this chance to break a record?

High temperatures have been above average so far this week with Monday's high temperature hitting 91° and Tuesday's hitting 96°.  The average high temperature for this time of the year is 83°.  Tuesday's high temperatures was only 2° away from tying the record high of 98° set back in 1957.   The last time Salisbury saw a temperature that high was on July 19th, 2013 (96°), when there was an 11 day stretch of high temperatures above 90°.  Tomorrow (Wednesday) is looking to be even hotter with highs in the mid-90s.

Taking a look at some model output; the NAM predicts the high temperature in Salisbury, MD will be 95° and the GFS predicts a high of 98°.  Some others: National Weather Service: 96°, Weather Channel: 94°, Accuweather: 96°, WeatherBug: 96°.  I believe that with early sunshine and warm overnight lows, tomorrows high will hit 97°, allowing for the current daily record high to be broken.  Even if we just tie the record, Wednesday afternoon will be the hottest day so far in Salisbury for 2014.
