SendHub and Zumper Named Runners-Up Among 15 Emerging Technology Companies Focused on Real Estate Industry
MADISON, N.J., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Realogy Holdings Corp. (NYSE: RLGY), a global leader in real estate franchising and provider of real estate brokerage, relocation and settlement services, today announced Matterport as the grand prize winner of the second annual Realogy 'FWD' Innovation Summit. Matterport's "computational photography" technology enables rapid high-quality 3D visualization of physical spaces, which encompasses individual room-level views as well as the ability to fly through entire structures.
"The pace of innovation is accelerating," said Alex Perriello, president and CEO of the Realogy Franchise Group. "Virtually every one of the companies presenting today did so on a handheld mobile device, which speaks volumes as to where technology is going. As we continue to invest in the growth of our business, it's so important to us to host an event like this, and help to identify and engage with the minds behind some of the most exciting new technology applications for the real estate industry."
Matterport took top honors and the $25,000 Realogy FWD Innovation prize from among an impressive field of 15 emerging technology companies. Incorporated exactly three years ago today on June 17, 2011, Matterport is based in Mountain View, California, and its investors include Lux Capital, Greylock Partners and Y Combinator, among others.
"From our perspective as a start-up, it's amazing to see an organization as large and multifaceted as Realogy put the type of effort and focus into innovation that we saw displayed here today," said Bill Brown, Matterport's chief executive officer.
"It's an honor to win the FWD Innovation Summit, but what really struck me was the quality and candor of the feedback that we received, which is so important for our product development," said Mike Beebe, co-founder and chief operating officer of Matterport.
The other two FWD finalists were SendHub and Zumper. SendHub offers Realtors a suite of next-generation business communications across devices in-office and on-site, while Zumper is a national search site for home and apartment rentals. Landlords and agents use the Zumper Pro mobile app to create and post listings to top search sites and manage leads on their phone. The complete list of 2014 FWD participants is available online at realogyfwd.com.
Each participating company presented live demonstrations of their products and services in front of a crowd of approximately 200 executives and franchisees from among the Realogy family of brokerage companies and franchise brands. A panel of six judges asked follow-up questions of each presenter, and narrowed the field to three finalists before the audience selected the winner by live text voting.
