Advocates Hope To Pass Online DE Voting Records Bill

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Delawareans could soon see how their local leaders voted in each session as simply as surfing the web.

If passed, a new bill would create a website designed to show complete voting records of all Delaware House and Senate lawmakers. Currently, residents can access this information by looking up each individual bill or make a Freedom of Information Act request.

"Constituents are able to go online under the legislature's homepage and just see what he's been up to and how he's been voting," said Dr. Michael Schierl, an advocate for the bill.

The bill is in a House committee for the third year in a row.
