SALISBURY, Md. - A body has been pulled from the Wicomico County River, in the Salisbury City Park.

Salisbury Police and Salisbury Fire Department responded the park on Monday morning shortly after 9:00 AM, for reports of a body floating in the river. Officials say they found 25-year-old Rodney Stevenson Jr., in the river with an injury to the back of the head, near a cement wall. Police say there were no signs of foul play, but they are continuing their investigation.

Stevenson was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

Stevenson, a resident of Ohio Avenue, reported left his home around 8:30 AM on Monday, and was headed to East Main Street and Mount Hermon Road. He reportedly had identification on him when he was found. Police say the water appears to be no deeper than 5 feet where he was located.

47 ABC went out to the park this afternoon and spoke to families and folks out running, who say they felt uneasy about the news.

"It did concern me because I run in the park a lot actually," says Mark Granger, a Salisbury, resident.

"I try to get here at least once a week but it's surprising to hear that," says Alvin Christopher, also a Salisbury resident. "This is a nice place and the upkeep is good, like I said its surprising to hear."

Salisbury Police are asking anyone who was in the park, near the foot bridge or the band stand around 9:00 AM on Monday, to call Detectives at 410-548-3113.
