If you saw my forecast today, you already know that we are
in for some hot temperatures as we head into the middle part of the work week.
Along with the hot temperatures, humidity will be making temperatures feel even
hotter during the afternoon hours.
While Salisbury has seen the 90° temperatures three times so
far this year, we have not yet had consecutive days of temperatures in the 90s.
This week, we have a very good chance at having three days with temperatures at
or above 90°, and could even reach the 90s for a fourth day on Friday.
The hot temperatures combined with the humidity may come as
a shock to many people if you are planning any outdoor activities this week. It
is a good idea to save any outdoor plans for the early morning or late evening
hours, and if you are outside it is also a good idea to wear light weight and
light colored clothing. Everyone should stay hydrated with non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated
fluids, even if you don't feel thirsty. During the hottest parts of the day,
usually from 10 AM – 2 PM, the best place to be is in an air conditioned building.
While you're protecting yourself from the heat, don't forget
to take care of your pets too. They need to stay hydrated as well and their
outdoor time should be limited. If they must be outside for an extended period,
make sure you provide shade and plenty of fresh water.
Stay cool this week!
