Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md. - A Tyaskin man died today while boating in the Wetipquin Creek.

Officials with Maryland Natural Resource Police say a 70-year-old man and his wife were in a small boat in the creek, when they pulled up on shore to let their dogs run. The couple's boat reportedly drifted away, and the 70-year-old swam out to retrieve it, and collapsed. His wife reportedly held him up until responders arrived.

Officials say he was transported to PRMC where he was later pronounced dead.

The exact cause of death is reportedly unknown at this time, but his body has been transported over to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation.
