Louisville, KY.- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its final coaches poll of the 2014 season, and after advancing to the Division III National Championship game, Salisbury University finished the year as the number two team in the nation.
The Sea Gulls won 11 straight on their way to the championship game played in Tyler, Texas, against Tufts University. Salisbury would win the first game of the series, leaving them one win away from the program's first national championship. Tufts would then go on to take the next two games, and their program's second national championship.
The national champion Jumbos claimed the top spot while the Sea Gulls checking in at no. 2 unanimously. The University of St. Thomas (Minnesota), East Texas Baptist University, and the University of Wisconsin Whitewater rounded out the rest of the top five.
