DSP Looking For Information After Shots Fired In Dover Home Invasion

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Police are looking for information on two suspects, after shots were reportedly fired during a Dover home invasion. Delaware State Police say around 10:40 PM on Wednesday, a neighbor called 911, saying they heard gunshots fried from the house next door, then saw a black male leave the home.

Troopers arrived on scene to Becky Lane, where their preliminary investigation found that a 28-year-old woman and her 11-month-old daughter were sleeping in the master bedroom. According to the report, two suspects, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into the house through the front door, and entered the master bedroom. Police say the men demanded money from the woman, and asked for a certain person, who lives there but wasn't home.

At the same time, a 26-year-old male asleep in another room, was awoken by the noise, and entered the hallway. One of the suspects, a white male, fired on the 26-year-old victim as soon as he entered the hallway. Police say the 26-year-old went back into his room, and jumped out the window as he was shot at again.

The victim then ran to the nearby Royal Farms and also called the Kent County Emergency Operation Center. The two suspect reportedly got into a dark colored four door vehicle, and fled without any money or property from the home.

The 28-year-old female victim, and her daughter were not injured during the incident, but the 26-year-old male was taken to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries sustained while jumping through the window.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. S. Doherty at 302-741-2817 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips can also be submitted to the DSP Mobile Crime App, texting DSP to CRIMES (274637), or by visiting the TipSubmit website.
