Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - Two people, including a police officer, were air lifted from an accident near the Bay Bridge on Wednesday.

The Maryland Transportation Authority says the two vehicle collision happened around 12:00 PM, on Route 50 Eastbound. The Police Officer was reportedly in a vehicle in the crossover, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle was hit by another. Officials say the Officer, along with a person from the other vehicle, were air lifted from the scene.

The Officer is apparently currently listed in serious but stable condition, at Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore. We're told traffic is still heavy in the area, but all the lanes on the bridge are currently open.

The crash is reportedly still under investigation.
