UPDATE: Bryan Denied Parole After 1987 Murder

Posted: Updated:

SUSSEX CO., DEL. - A convicted murder in Delaware, will have to spend another year behind bars. Ransford Bryan was denied parole for the fifth time Wednesday.

Bryan shot and killed 18-year-old Douglas "Dougie" Brockway back in 1987, during a squirrel hunting trip in Lewes, Del.

On Tuesday, a parole hearing was conducted, in which the victim's mother, Peggy Truitt Brockway testified against Bryan. Brockway's family has been fighting for years to keep Bryan from walking. Wednesday's news was a victory for them, but they were appalled to learn that Bryan will be eligible to apply for parole a year from now.

"I think that's ridiculous. I think they're wasting people's time and money. I think he should spend the rest of his life in prison and pay for what he did," Truitt Brockway told 47 ABC.

Peggy says she's going to get started right away on the battle to keep Bryan locked away for good.
