Ocean City Among Top MD Tourism Destinations

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. -  We know Maryland is a great place to live, and a new study shows it's a great place to visit as well.

According to the Maryland Tourism office, Ocean City is the second most popular place to visit in the state, right behind Baltimore at number one.

Across the state, Maryland welcomed 36.1 million visitors last year, up 2.2 percent from 2012. But it's an increase of 33 percent since 2007.

47 ABC spoke with the Maryland Office of Tourism, and officials say continued promotions of destinations like Ocean City, and the development of new spots like the National Harbor in Prince George's County are strong contributors to the state's success.

Officials add the revenue from tourist dollars helps support things like safety, transportation and security that come along with increased visits.
