Salisbury Man Arrested On Firearm Charges In Ocean City

Posted: Updated:

WORCESTER CO., Md. - Law enforcement in Ocean City, says they arrested a Salisbury man after he attempted to flee from them.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says Deputies on patrol in Ocean City, on Sunday around 1:15 AM, noticed two men crossing S. Baltimore Avenue, South of S. Division Street, not using a crosswalk. The Deputies apparently attempted to stop the subjects, but one of the men fled on foot. Officials say the Deputy followed the suspect for about a 100 yards, during which they saw him make a throwing motion with his hands.

The Deputy in pursuit used a Taser to take 19-year-old Weldon Turner into custody, after a brief struggle. Police say they searched the area, and recovered a .44 caliber magnum revolver. Turner reportedly told Deputies that he ran, because he didn't want to be caught with the firearm.

He was charged with wear and carry a dangerous weapon concealed on his person, carry and transport a handgun upon and about their person, intentionally resist a lawful arrest, willfully fail to obey a reasonable and lawful order of a law enforcement officer. Turner is reportedly awaiting trial.
