WORCESTER CO., Md. - Maryland State Police say a single-vehicle crash killed one victim in Worcester County this morning.

According to reports, around 4:01 AM, Maryland State Police responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision that was reported to have occurred on US Route 50, west of Riddle Lane, in Worcester County. When troopers arrived, it was reportedly determined the vehicle had been occupied by the driver only who was ejected during the collision event.

Police say the driver was identified as Ryan Young Hatton, 22, of Glenn Dale, Prince George's County, Maryland.  Hatton was reportedly taken by ambulance to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Through the investigation, police say it was determined Hatton was traveling westbound on US Route 50, west of Riddle Lane, when he lost control of the 2000 Toyota he was driving.  The vehicle reportedly traveled through the median, across the eastbound lanes of US Route 50, and struck a traffic signal support pole at the intersection for one of the entrances into Walmart/Home Depot.  The vehicle reportedly overturned during the collision event subsequently ejecting Hatton.

Police say Eastbound US Route 50 was shutdown for several hours during the investigation and debris cleanup.  Assisting at the scene was Worcester County Sheriff's Deputies, Berlin Fire Department, and SHA.
