Playground Inspired By Young Boy With Leukemia Celebrates 10 Years

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - This year is the 10th anniversary of Ben's Red Swings Community Playground in Salisbury, and the city is celebrating with live music and games.

The playground was inspired by four-year-old Ben Layton, who died of leukemia in 2002.  "Ben's Red Swings" was designed with the help of local children, and built by more than 4,000 volunteers in May 2004.

The event is on June 14th from 11 AM to 4 PM at the west entrance of the Salisbury Zoo.
