Campaign Donations Bill Moves To The House

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - A law regarding campaign contributions could soon change in the first state.

According to reports, the Senate approved legislation this week, sponsored by Senate Republican Whip Greg Lavelle, that would allow political candidates to give campaign contributions back to their donors.

The measure comes after a race last year for a Sussex County Council seat. When it appeared the incumbent would not seek re-election, George Parish reportedly started raising money for a campaign. When the incumbent changed his mind, Parish reportedly dropped out of the race, and realized the he could not legally return campaign contributions.

Senate Bill 221, which passed unanimously, now reportedly heads to the House of Representatives for consideration.
