Doughnuts For All: Salisbury Shop Celebrates Donut Day

Posted: Updated:

47 ABC - To quote an American icon, "donuts, is there anything they can't do?"

Well, Homer Simpson is probably in a fantastic mood on Friday because it's National Doughnut Day.

47 ABC took a behind the scenes look at local donut shop DeVage's in Salisbury.

National Donut Day started during World War I when Salvation Army workers served coffee and doughnuts to soldiers in the trenches.

"We have men and women all over the world that are sacrificing for our freedom so I think we should have more than one Donut Day," said Dee DeVage.

DeVage's says they sold more than 50 dozen donuts as of 10:30AM.
