College Student Becomes Youngest Ever Princess Anne Official

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - A University of Maryland Eastern Shore senior is now a member of council, not student council, but the town council of princess Anne.

Lionel Frederic won the seat in last week's town election, beating out the incumbent, becoming the youngest elected town official on record.

Frederic, a biology major and Princess Anne native, says part of the reason he ran was to improve diversity on the council.

Now that the election is over though, Frederic says it's time to get to work, telling 47 ABC some of the issues he plans to tackle "lower taxes hopefully implement my own recycling program for the general community and also create jobs."

The Princess Anne town commissioner is a 4 year position.  Frederic says after graduation, he plans to stay in Princess Anne, and enroll in UMES's pharmacy program.
