Construction Underway For "Safe Routes To School" Project

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A heads up for motorists in Wicomico County - construction is now underway for the next "Safe Routes to School Project."

This one will extend the existing sidewalk in front of Bennett High School on Beaglin Park Drive, and run a half mile away at the Snow Hill Road intersection. The project is expected to take approximately four weeks.

The first project was at Salisbury Middle School and was completed in 2009. These efforts are funded by the Federal Highway Administration, and officials say the routes, paired with speed cameras, are helping increase safety in school zones.

Drivers are warned to keep an eye out for lane closures in the work zones over the next few weeks.
