PARSONSBURG, Md. - The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office says they determined that a residential fire this morning, that sent two people for medical treatment, was an accidental fire.

According to reports, the blaze happened at 4:54 AM in a one-story, wood framed, single-family dwelling located in the 7000 Block of Wainwright Avenue. The residence was reportedly occupied by Eddie & Joana Sheridan.

Officials say the Sheridan's were both transported by Parsonsburg EMS to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment of fire related injuries. Mrs. Sheridan reportedly received 2nd degree burns to both legs and is expected to be released from the hospital. Officials say Mr. Sheridan has been transferred in critical but stable condition to John's Hopkins Bayview Burn
Center with smoke inhalation injuries.

Reports say 25 firefighters from Parsonsburg, Pittsville and Salisbury Station #2 responded to the scene and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Damage to the structure was reportedly estimated at $70,000.00 dollars.

Officials say no working smoke alarms were present in the home due to them being disabled by the occupants. The fire was reportedly determined to have originated in a bedroom and was caused by an occupant smoking while using medical oxygen.
