Court Shooter's Relatives To Be Tried In Delaware

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A federal judge has rejected a request by relatives of a man who killed two people at a Delaware courthouse to move their trial on conspiracy and stalking charges to another state.

The judge ruled Thursday that David Matusiewicz, and his mother, Lenore, have not established that extensive media coverage has so prejudiced potential jurors that they can't get a fair trial.

Matusiewicz, his mother, and his sister, Amy Gonzalez, are charged with conspiracy and stalking of David Matusiewicz's ex-wife, Christine Belford. Belford and a friend were fatally shot by Matusiewicz's father in February 2013 at the New Castle County courthouse. Thomas Matusiewicz then exchanged gunfire with security officers before killing himself.

Thomas Matusiewicz's widow and children have repeatedly denied having any knowledge of his plans to kill her.
