The Delaware SPCA is seeking homes for three horses that were abandoned and found in horrible living conditions. Today, they are safe and healthy, but in need of permanent homes.
These horses deserve to live out their lives in peace and happiness. We hope someone with adequate land will consider making room for any of these wonderful horses. After enduring what they have been through, they would be content to graze pastures and keep other horses company. We think that with a bit of training, patience and some TLC these horses would love the feel of a rider in saddle and dirt under hoof heading down a trail towards a sunset.
Dallas is a 2-3 year old blue roan pony who would be a fantastic prospect for someone looking for a future show pony! He is halter broke and quickly learning his ground manners. Dallas is not saddle broke at this time and will require a small rider as he is only around 12 hands high. He is definitely a boy who would thrive with lots of attention and would do best with a job. Dallas stands well for both the vet and the blacksmith. Due to his age, we would recommend that he go to an experienced horse person who will be able to bring out his full potential. Dallas is clean legged, recently gelded, and has no medical issues of which we are aware that would limit his future training!
Dream is a 2-3 year old bay tobiano paint pony who is quite flashy and will make a great equine partner once she has some training! Dream is halter broke and working on her ground manners, but has not yet been started under saddle. She is around 12 hands high and petite so will require a smaller rider. This little filly will need an experienced horse owner to begin her training properly and bring her along, but looks to be a fantastic horse down the road. Dream is clean legged and we are not aware of any medical issues that will limit her future endeavors. Once she gets some training under her belt she will be a great pony for a child rider with a trainer!
Czar is a laid back gentleman who is about 19 years old and is looking for the perfect retirement home! Czar does suffer from Cushings Disease, a metabolic disorder which can be easily managed with a daily supplement. Our farm staff said that he has the perfect babysitter temperament and gets along with every other horse and pony he comes across. This harsh winter was very hard on Czar and he could greatly benefit from some groceries now that the spring grass is here! Czar is not able to be ridden due to his medical issue but he is easy to handle on the ground and great with people. Czar finds it difficult to stand for the blacksmith due to his age and medical issues so will need a patient farrier and an experienced handler for those appointments. We are hoping that we can find a home where Czar can live out his remaining years in comfort!
