Man Killed In Single Vehicle Crash Near Frankford

Posted: Updated:

FRANKFORD, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a Maryland man was killed when the car he was driving hit a pipe, became airborne, and flipped end over end before coming to rest in a ditch.

It happened on Tuesday around 4PM on Gum Road. Troopers say 75-year-old Alfred Cochran of Ocean City was driving east when his car left the road on a slight curve and hit a culvert pipe. The vehicle became airborne and when it landed, on the right front, flipped end over end before coming to rest on the driver's side in a ditch.

Cochran, who was properly restrained and the only passenger, was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is still under investigation.
