Three Rescued Horses Looking For Homes In Sussex Co.

FRANKFORD, Del. - Three rehabilitated horses need new homes.

In the fall of last year, six horses were reportedly rescued, after two Sussex County owners were slapped with animal cruelty charges for severely neglecting the animals.

The Georgetown SPCA reportedly does not have the resources to house or care for them, among other livestock, which is where Horseplay Farm stepped in. For the past six years, the farm has helped board horses and other large livestock that are up for adoption.

"They usually call us for Sussex county because we have the equipment and the know how," says Lisa Boyce, owner of Horseplay Farm. "This has happened more often than not, a lot of people think they can have a horse in their backyard and they can eat the grass. Well that's fine for the first 10 minutes, but after that the horse needs supplements and food to eat and sometimes they just don't get it."

Boyce says two of the horses already have already been adopted, and one of the horses unfortunately did not make it, which leaves three that still need new homes.

According to the SPCA, Dream, 2, is a paint pony.  She is halter broke but will need some handling and groceries in order to get her going under saddle.  Czar, 19, is a bay Quarter horse mix gelding. He is extremely social, and would be a fantastic companion horse. Dallas is a blue roan pony, estimated to be two-years-old.
