Salisbury, MD - In baseball, it's not over till it's over. The Delmarva Shorebirds kept that in mind with a pair of comeback victories over the Hagerstown Suns at Perdue Stadium on Memorial Day.
Shorebirds fell behind 6-0 when the Suns exploded in the second inning.
It was a rough inning for Shorebirds' pitcher Steven Brault as all the runs came for the Suns with two outs. But after that Brault would set up the Shorebirds for a chance at a comeback. He pitched seven innings and did not allow another run.
Bottom of the seventh, Jeff Kemp and Drew Dosch each singled to give the Shorebirds a chance for the win. Trey Mancini with an RBI single. The play of the game would be Justin Viele with a grounder to third base. Suns Drew Ward throws to first and Viele slides headfirst to avoid the tag from Jimmy Yezzo. A throwing error gave the Shorebirds the 7-6 walkoff win.
Shortly after, the Shorebirds fell behind in game two. This time, the come back from behind win wasn't as difficult. They win 2-1.
Delmarva will go for a series win over Hagerstown on Tuesday night.
