WORCESTER CO., Md. - Three Worcester County students were honored with the Maryland Masters Award for the 2014 school year Tuesday.

Comptroller Peter Franchot presented the awards to Kamau N'Dirangu, a third grader at Cedar Chapel Special School, Meghan Hall, a sixth grade student at Berlin Intermediate School, and Miki Katna, a twelfth grade student at Stephen Decatur High School. Kamau created an abstract piece using paint and yarn, Meghan painted a landscape of a forest using acrylic paint and oil pastels, and Miki created a high-contrast portrait.

The award recognizes young scholars who have displayed extraordinary artistic skills and vision for the state's future. The artwork will be displayed in the Comptroller's office in Annapolis for two months.
