UPDATE: Identities Released In Selbyville Murder Suicide

Posted: Updated:

SELBYVILLE, Del. - Police have released the identities of two people reportedly found dead in a parking lot in Selbyville on Monday morning.

Delaware State Police say they suspect that they are investigating a murder suicide in the Bayview Estates community. Detectives say around 5:50 AM on Monday, Troopers responded to the community clubhouse, on Sea Gull Road, after getting a report of two people lying on the ground in the back parking lot.

Once on scene, Troopers say they found an unresponsive 63-year-old Edward Watkins Sr., and an unresponsive 53-year-old Robin Watkins, lying near two vehicles. Both were reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the report, the two were apparently married, and lived in the Maryland side of the Bayview Estates community, in Bishopville, Maryland. Police say their investigation indicates that the two drove to the clubhouse sometime during the late evening of May 18th, separately, then the male shot the female twice, then shot himself. A handgun was reportedly recovered at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is apparently working to determine the cause and manner of death of both Watkins.
