Ban On Sale Of Knives And Laser Pointers Expected Monday In OC

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Ocean City stores may soon have to cut some controversial inventory from their shelves.

Particularly, laser pointers and "assisted opening knives," which open by pressing a button.  Monday, the Town Council is expected to vote on an emergency ordinance banning the products.

Over the past three years, Ocean City Police say they've responded to nearly 1,000 laser pointer related calls alone.

Currently, anyone misusing laser pointers can face fines and jail time.

If passed, the ban would go into effect immediately.
