BERLIN, MD --> A season-ending loss for the Stephen Decatur baseball team as La Plata High School defeats them 6-5 in the regional championship game.
After being down 5-0 in the third inning, the Seahawks dug themselves in a big hole. But, the beauty of baseball, is anything can happen. A huge rally in the third inning saw the Seahawks down 5-4. Bottom of the fourth, they were able to tie up the game against the Warriors. After that, the Seahawks were unable to capitalize when they had runners in scoring position.
The Seahawks entered bottom of the seventh inning, 6-5. Warriors' pitcher Alex Calvert, struck out two of the first three batters. The Seahawks Chase Coursey was the final out of the game.
"We've been resilient, but I didn't know we can score five, because Alex Calvert was really good today. But we chipped away, they showed a lot of resiliency, once again. Got into it 5-5, and we had chances, I thought we were going to get one there, we never did, you know we had opportunities too, it just didn't happen for us, so frustrating but also, I'm really happy these guys stayed in the game," said Seahawks head coach Rich Ferro.
