Eastern Shore Celebrates Armed Forces Day - 47 ABC - Delmarva's Choice

Eastern Shore Celebrates Armed Forces Day

Posted: Updated:

47 ABC - Have you thanked an Armed Forces member today?

If you haven't, Saturday is the day to do it. It's Armed Forces Day. Parades and air shows across the country honored members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. On the Eastern Shore, Operation We Care gave thanks to service members with a Day at the Roost.

47 ABC caught up with residents who shared their thoughts on the holiday.

"It should be a national holiday like Veterans Day and Memorial Day," said Sonny Steele. "It should be a bigger recognized holiday because without the Armed Forces, where would this country be?"

Armed Forces Day was first appointed when Harry Truman was commander-in-chief.
