Police Seek Male Suspect, Allegedly Luring Salisbury Children

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - It's a frightening thought for many parents.  Reports of a suspicious person, trying to lure children into their car.

It's not what residents like Brian wanted to hear, "I've got grand kids around that play here in this area. You don't want nothing to happen to your grand kids," he says.

Complaints were filed on two separate incidents over the past month, after a suspicious man was seen trying to get young people in his car near Vine and Madison streets.

The suspect, described as a 40 to 50 year old white male, is said to be in an older model royal blue Subaru with partial Maryland license plate 9FDL23.

Lt. John King with the Salisbury Police Department says "we have not determined that a crime has occurred, but we are seeking to identify the individual, so that we can speak to them and ascertain exactly what the intension were."

According to police, at least one 15 year old male was approached, and they have reason to believe several other kids may have been targeted by the man who reportedly offered money to get them in the car.

"We want to do some preventative maintenance on that and make sure everybody is practicing good personal safety," says Lt. King.

And in this community, with neighborhood watch signs on every other corner, residents say their eyes are open.

"We watch out for the neighborhood anyway.  I mean, that's what we're supposed to do...that's what neighbors do," say "I'll spread the word."

With warm weather, and school ending soon...police say they want to remind parents and kids about "stranger danger".

Any with information on these incidents should contact Salisbury Police at 410-548-3165.
