Millsboro Man Charged After Apparently Crashing Into General Store In Laurel

LAUREL, Del. - A Millsboro man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, after allegedly crashing into a gas station.

Delaware State Police say around 12:00 AM on Thursday, 22-year-old Trent Hitchens, was driving a 2014 Ford Mustang on Shiloh Church Road, coming up to Laurel Road, when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign, and went onto the parking lot of Sandy Fork General Store. According to the report, the mustang continued through the parking lot on West Laurel Road, hitting a gas pump, before crashing into the front of the business.

Hitchens was taken into custody at the scene after a DUI investigation, while his passenger, 29-year-old Raymond Davis, of Millsboro, was air-lifted to Christiana Medical Center, where he is currently admitted in stable condition.

Hitchens was charged with vehicular assault 1st, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to have insurance in possession, failure to have registration in possession, failure to have a license on possession, and failure to stop at a stop sign. He is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,800 bond.
