Wynn Wins it With Walk-Off

Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds earned a walk off win against the BlueClaws Tuesday afternoon 2-1 courtesy Austin Wynn. The win climbs Delmarva over .500 on the year too 19-18.

Mike Yastrzemski gave the Shorebirds the lead with a solo home run in the in the 3rd inning. Lakewood would tied the game at one in the sixth inning off a Willians Astudillo two-out double followed by a Dylan Cozens RBI single to right field. The pitching would take over from there as both teams were deadlocked headed to the 9th.

There the BlueClaws would get a runner on first after a walk. Jon Keller would then record two huge strike outs, and watched as Wynn threw out a runner attempting to steal second. In the bottom of the frame, Josh Hart lead off with a single followed by Wynn's Heroics. He sent a shot up the third base line that just stayed in, and allowed for Hart to turn on the jets. The leftfielder had some trouble gathering the ball in the corner, and that gave just enough time for Hart to slide home for the win.

The Shorebirds now travel to Kannapolis, North Carolina for a three-game series. Left-hander Mitch Horacek (1-3, 3.69) will start for Delmarva against Intimidators' right-hander Tyler Barnette (1-1, 2.92). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Wednesday evening.
