VA Gov Names Acting Exec For State Alcohol Agency

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The commissioner of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is overseeing the transition of the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control as the agency's head is retiring.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Tuesday that in addition to his role at the DMV, Rick Holcomb will become acting chief operating officer for the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control department.

W. Curtis Coleburn III plans to retire as chief operating officer but his last day has not yet been determined. Holcomb will take over while McAuliffe searches for a permanent replacement.

Holcomb was reappointed as commissioner of the DMV by McAuliffe this, after serving in the same capacity for four years under Gov. Bob McDonnell.
