N. Dorchester Baseball Take Thriller Over Mardela

Posted: Updated:

Mardela, MD - The North Dorchester team defeated Mardela 6-5 in a thriller Monday afternoon to advance to the sweet 16. Mardela would take a 2-1 lead in early after a few timely hits and were able to hold on to that lead as the Warriors pitching staff was doing a great job of keeping them off balance.

The Eagles would figure it out in the 5th though, as they stringed together a series of hits and walks to get the bases loaded. They could've scored more if not for an out being called by the home plate ump on a runner not tagging up at third who would've scored otherwise. Regardless the call, North Dorchester built up a 6-2 lead headed to the bottom of the frame.

There Easton would score a scrappy run after a wild throw to first allowed for a runner to come home. The Warriors would add on two more runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 6-5 headed to the final frame. After getting a man on first, the Eagles would end the game by turning two.

North Dorchester now advances to take on Cambridge.
