DORCHESTER CO., Md. - A Dagsboro man is behind bars in Maryland, after he allegedly attempted to flee from Police during a traffic stop.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says around 1:00 AM on Saturday, a Deputy on patrol tried to pull over a Ford Expedition near the intersection of Route 14 at Kelly Road, in Eldorado. According to the report, the vehicle kept going towards Rhodesdale, at 75 miles per hour, until a Deputy deployed stop sticks at Route 14 and Route 331, deflating the right front tire of the Expedition.

Police say the driver continued driving, with the tire coming off the rim near the Osborne Road intersection, through East New Market and Secretary. The driver apparently attempted to ram a Dorchester Sheriff's Patrol Car near Sunnyside Road. Police say the chase continued towards Cambridge, until finally coming to an end in a parking lot on Gypsy Hill Road.

The driver, 32-year-old Janell Taylor, was reportedly uncooperative and combative, and had to be restrained by Deputies. An investigation showed that Taylor was wanted in Delaware on a fugitive warrant out of Delaware, and in Worcester County for failure to appear.

He was charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault, failure to obey a lawful order, driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, driving while suspended, fleeing and eluding and driving without a license. Taylor was also charged with several other traffic offenses. He is being held without bond on the fugitive warrant, $5,000 for the failure to appear, and $125,000 bond on the local charges.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says they were assisted by the Maryland State Police and Cambridge City Police during the chase.
