Pedestrian Killed On US 13 In Felton

FELTON, Del. - Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit says they are investigating a fatal crash in which a pedestrian was struck and killed on South DuPont Highway in Felton last evening.

According to repots, preliminary investigation has determined that the crash occurred on Saturday, May 10th at approximately 9:28 PM as William Parker, 53, of Felton, Delaware walked into the southbound travel lane of South DuPont Highway (US13) north of Main Street (SR12), directly into the path of a 2013 Nissan Altima, operated by Angel Harrington, 32, of Harrington, Delaware.

Parker reportedly suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Angel Harrington was properly restrained and not injured.

Preliminary investigation has reportedly indicated that Parker was not in the area of a designated or marked crosswalk when struck. US 13 southbound in the area of the crash was reportedly closed for approximately 2 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. and troopers continue to investigate. No charges have reportedly been filed.

Troopers are reminding pedestrians to use caution and safety when walking on or near roadways. If you must cross a roadway, police say to utilize designated cross walks and make sure to look left, then right, then left again before proceeding. When walking near a roadway always make yourself visible to drivers by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials. They suggest that pedestrians that are walking at night to carry a flashlight for added safety.
