Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds snapped their losing streak Wednesday night with a 5-0 shut out win over Augusta.
Steven Brault dealt a gem, striking out 8 over six innings of work. But in a pitching battle, the Shorebirds wouldn't get on the board til the 6th. A line drive shot to right appeared to be trapped which allowed the go-ahead run to score. Augusta manager Mike Goff was ejected following
the play, arguing that Tyler Horan caught the
ball on a diving effort.
The Shorebirds offense would explode from there, as they piled on 4 more runs in the next two innings. Rheault came in to close it for Delmarva.
The Shorebirds and GreenJackets continue the series on Thursday.
Left-hander Mitch Horacek (0-3, 4.61) will start for Delmarva against
Augusta right Keury Mella (2-1, 3.04). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05
pm at Perdue Stadium.
