DE Department Of Corrections Expands Victim Services

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - The Delaware Department of Corrections is putting a bigger focus on victims of crimes with the creation of a new position.

The DOC has hired a full time victim services coordinator, who will provide victims and survivors with a direct contact resource within the department to help with services such as setting up status updates to monitor individuals as they move through the system and connecting with victim advocacy programs.

"Once the offender's sentenced, those victims don't always know where to turn for answers," says DOC Commissioner Robert Coupe, "a lot of times, we hadn't thought of the victim as the responsibility of the department of corrections, and we're demonstrating that we do realize that we have a role to play to support our victims."

Anyone who has questions for victim and family services can call Renee Buskirk at 302-857-5440 or contact DOC_VictimServices@state.de.us
