UPDATE: Arrest Made In April Vehicle Fire In Cambridge

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Authorities have charged a teenage girl, in connection with a vehicle arson that happened in early April, in Cambridge.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says on Monday, they charged a 15-year-old female with arson related charges, after connecting her to the intentional igniting of a 2008 Toyota Corolla, that spread to the siding of an occupied home. The incident reportedly happened on April 7th, just before 1:40 AM, while the car was parked in the driveway of a home on Teal Lane.

According to the report, the blaze took ten firefighters 15 minutes to put out, and caused an estimated $5,000 in damages to the vehicle, and another $20,000 worth of damage, to the home. The eight occupants of the two story single family dwelling were able to get out safely.

Investigators apparently determined that the teenager was responsible for setting the fire on the outside of the vehicle, and have charged her with 2nd degree arson, 1st degree malicious burning, 8 counts of reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property. She was later released to the custody of her parent, pending actions by the Department of Juvenile Services.
